New York City Tobacco-Free Spaces

New York City prohibits smoking and vaping in many indoor and outdoor areas, including

  • Anywhere smoking and vaping are prohibited by the New York State Clean Indoor Air Act;
  • Playgrounds, parks and all outdoor areas of children’s institutions;
  • Outdoor seating areas of sports arenas and recreational areas; and
  • Pedestrian plazas.

Additionally, New York City prohibits the use of smokeless tobacco at sports arenas and recreational areas that issue tickets.
