Chronic Disease

The New York Department of Health has developed an ambitious agenda to prevent cancer and associated chronic diseases. The Public Health and Tobacco Policy Center provides policy support to the Department relevant to developing evidence-based policies to encourage healthy behaviors and improve preventive cancer screening rates and vaccination uptake. Equipped with evidence-based strategies, New York is uniquely positioned to build upon its history of progressive public health policy at the local and statewide levels to meet public health targets for disease control, prevent cancers of all types, and reduce public health costs.
